This Blog is about my relating to the world through art, as I age along with it. I am a writer, a painter and a singer....not necessarily in that order. I'll be sharing the joy of my three art forms and other tidbits. Watch for more!

I have read some powerful books about parenting and addiction over the years. I thought Lynne Gassel would present another tragic story about addiction and loss. However, Fifth Child goes beyond eloquently presenting her own families struggles. Lynne Gassel provides beautiful and helpful insight into love, marriage, forgiveness and parenting. She checked her ego at the door, and presents a lens in which the reader can learn and grow throughout the book. This is an important book for new parents, families struggling with addiction, parents and children who may be viewing their relationship negatively, and anyone who believes in the human ability to forgive and love again.

Once I started to read this book I couldn't put it down. I felt for the reader and her family.
Lynne and her family had so much courage and faith to go through this situation and I am so glad that they found the help they needed.
This book is a must read for anyone in the same situation, and I hope they can find the same help that Lynne and her family did.
It is a wonderful read and I cried along with her and her family as they went through it.
Lynne you should be so proud of yourself. You did an excellent job on it.
Amazon Review-5 More Stars! Thank you!

I read the sample of this book because Lynn Gassel is my husband's cousin's husband's mom (good luck mapping that out!) and I was hooked! As the parent of 3 kiddos around the same age as the author's 'Fifth Child' I gathered a lot of insight in parenting my own children. I admire the author for her truthful and often raw approach of telling her story. Although I have never had an addict in my life and pray my children won't ever have the disease, there were many lessons to learn and apply to my own life. Brady is a lucky boy to have such devoted parents!

Wonderfully written! An open and honest account of a family's journey through what has become all too familiar for many grandparents today. Brady is truly a special gift, and proof that sometimes life's greatest blessings arise from the most tragic of circumstances. Thank you, Lynne, for sharing your story!
